Domestic Terrorists

Groups within the U.S. that have historically produced Domestic Terrorists include:

• White supremacists
• Anti-government groups
• Anarchists
• Separatists
• Single issue groups

These groups have formed because of reactions to controversial issues that are important to many of us. Sometimes they use these issues as tools to recruit new members to the more extreme side of their cause.

Remember, it is not illegal to embrace the causes of these groups. In fact, many of us may harbor some of the same beliefs. What makes an individual a terrorist is the choice to pursue these beliefs by committing crimes.
